Sam F. Shaw(1946-2024)

I'm a native Californian. The Shaw family including my father Frank Shaw, Uncle Tom Shaw all worked in the film business. After returning from Vietnam (I'm a Marine) I started learning on job/apprenticing in film and sound editing. The first film I worked on was Hello Dolly. I have great memories of working with Terry Malick on Badlands in 1973 as Sound Effects editor. I worked on the first Star Wars picture as Sound Editor. I/we won a BAFTA. I then won an Emmy for Air wolf. I live in Spain most of the year with my wife Maggie, although I will be in Charleston, SC in a few months. My daughter, Lisa Shaw is also a Film Editor.
