Biography

Jupp Schmitz was born on February 15, 1901 in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. He was an actor, known for The Devil Makes Three (1952), Wo der Wildbach rauscht (1956) and Karneval am Rhein (1954). He was married to Bärbel Schmitz. He died on March 26, 1991 in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

Jupp Schmitz was one of the most famous people of the Cologne carnival season. He often performed the song "Am Aschermittwoch ist alles vorbei". He also wrote and performed famous evergreens such as "Wer soll das bezahlen", "Bella Bimba" and "Wir kommen alle in den Himmel". In 1991, shortly after his 90th birthday, he appeared at the Cologne carnival for a last time.
