Biography

Martins Upenieks is Latvian actor and film director. A graduate of the Latvian Academy of Culture, he holds a B.A. in Acting (2013) and an M.A. in Film Directing (2026). Since beginning his professional career, he has performed in over 40 theatre productions and appeared in television and feature film projects. In 2018, he received a Best Young Actor nomination at the Latvian Theatre Awards "Spēlmaņu nakts". Alongside acting, he writes and directs narrative films, with a particular interest in stories exploring identity, masculinity, and mental health.
