Biography

Samya Rahmani is an Iraqi-Canadian actress, born in England and raised between Jordan and Canada. She began performing at a young age on stage, later pursuing formal training at the Vancouver Academy of Dramatic Arts and the William Esper Studio in New York City.

Her career gained early international recognition with the short film Child Bride, which screened at the Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner in 2019. Since then, she has built a diverse body of work across North American and international television, with roles in series such as The Night Agent and Firefly Lane (Netflix), Little America (Apple TV+), Woke (Hulu), and appearances on Riverdale, Charmed, and Turner & Hooch, among others. She also appeared in Lucky Hank, starring Bob Odenkirk and directed by Academy Award-winner Peter Farrelly.

Alongside her work in Hollywood, Samya has established herself in the Arab world with leading roles in projects rooted in her Iraqi heritage, including the critically acclaimed series New Baghdad and My Name is Hasan, as well as productions on MBC Shahid. She is a two-time Best Actress award winner for her performance in Weam Namou’s Pomegranate.

Samya stars in the upcoming Swiss-Iraqi feature film The Blind Ferryman, directed by Ali Toffan Al-Fatlawi.

Fluent in both English and Arabic, including Iraqi and Levantine dialects, Samya also speaks French and brings a distinct cross-cultural perspective to her work as both an actress and storyteller.
