Gonzague Saint-Bris was born on 26 January 1948 in Loches, Indre-et-Loire, France. He was a writer, known for Le lys (1982), Rebelote (1984) and Les enquêtes du commissaire Maigret (1967). He died on 8 August 2017 in Saint-Hymer, Calvados, France.

Journalist, author of numerous books, he founded the literary festival &#39;La Forêt des Livres &#39; near his birthplace of Loches.

His family owns the Clos Lucé castle , in Amboise, where died <a class="ipc-md-link ipc-md-link--entity" href="/name/nm1827914/?ref_=nmtrv_trv">Leonardo Da Vinci</a>.
