Mini bio

  • Lab is a writer/director based in London, England. He has worked in TV commercials, TV drama and feature films.

His debut feature film, "9 Dead Gay Guys", stars Steven Berkoff and was hailed by The Observer as "The most shocking film at the Cannes Film Festival" and reviewed by one Sunday Express critic as "The most outrageous and original British film of the year." Having caused such a stir at Cannes, it went on to win the Audience award at the Montreal International Comedy Film Festival as well as the Best Film award at Dublin L&G Film Festival, and has been released in the UK and the US.

More recently, Lab has been shooting and developing films with Film London, BBC Writers Room, B3 Media for the UK Film Council, the BFI, and Sky Arts. A few of his short films - "My Dad the Communist" and "Three Mile Radius" - are multiple award-winning.

When between films, Lab hones his skills directing TV commercials. He has won two Golds at the Roses Advertising Awards with a risqué viral for Scruffs Workwear. This same viral clocked up over 2.5 million hits on YouTube and proved to be an ultra successful campaign for the client boosting sales by 40%. In addition, his MTV idents were short-listed for the "Best Branding" award in Promax UK.

In television, Lab has captained TV series "Hollyoaks" for Channel 4 and "The Cut" for the BBC, and previously written for ITV's "London Bridge". He has completed Director's Training in Multi-Camera Shooting for "Coronation Street" and written and directed an 8-part reality TV series, "Cooking Queen", for NTV Europe.
