Biography

  • Yeimy Daza is a Colombian-born, Canadian-based filmmaker. Although she initially pursued a career in acting, she soon switched to behind the camera.

    In 2016, she received a degree in Audiovisual Arts from the University of Bucaramanga, with academic recognition Cum Laudem. She has directed and produce more than a dozen short films. Her first work was the documentary "Por Oro Viene, Por Agua Se Va" (2013) winner of multiple film festivals internationally and broadcasted within the city of Bucaramanga.

    She also co-directed and produced the short film "Meu Pueblo" (2016) and a few months ago, she studied one semester of film at the Benemerita Univeristy of Puebla in Mexico, where she produced the documentary "Sinagua" (2016)

    In 2018, she graduated from the program of Film Production at Toronto Film School in Canada, where she made a music video "No Copeo" 2017 and her thesis short film "Poly" (2019) which have its European premiere at Salento International Film Festival in Italy (2020)

    In 2019, she graduated from Fundamental of Communication and Media at Centennial College. During this tim she co-directed, produced, and edited the music video for the singer and actress Carolina López "Mundos Paralelos" (2020) The same year she made the short film "Vitamin" (2021) and co-produced the short film "Don't Shoot the Messenger" (2020) which is currently on the film festival circuit.

    Currently (2021), Yeimy is working on the development of her first feature film where she explores the genre of psychological thriller and also exploring the idea from here documentary "Meu Pueblo" to develop a documentary feature film.
