Born in Honolulu, HI, Lelea'e is an only child by her mother, Mele Chun(Kahalepuna), however is the eldest of nine by her birth father. She is of Hawaiian, English, Scottish, French, German, Irish, Chinese, Japanese and Samoan descent.
She began acting and singing at the age of 13, and by 18, had high hopes of moving to NY to pursue a career in theatre. However, life's difficulties had derailed her dreams. After some time away, she began again, working her way slowly through the theatre scene and eventually making a name for herself in the Hawai'i theatre world. In theatre she is known by her stage name, Buffy Kahalepuna-Wong.
After nearly 20 years as a stage actor, she began to pursue film at the suggestion of a friend. In 2023, she received a certificate of completion from the ICAN program, Mana I Ka Mana. ICAN(International Cultural Arts Network) is an organization that focuses on Hawai'i native artists in the film industry and was under the tutelage of Pacifika artists such as Alex and Luci Tarrant, Cliff Curtis, and Rena Owen, to name a few.
She has been seen in Magnum P.I.(2021), Doogie Kamealoha MD(2021), Kukini(2024), and What We Carry(2025).
