Mustafa Shehata

Biography

Mustafa Shehata

Biography

  • A young Sudanese actor with Egyptian ancestors. He grew up in Sudan, where he studied to become an ophthalmic assistant. Little did he know that his specialization would inspire his stellar performance in YOU WILL DIE AT TWENTY, in which he perfectly depicted the patients' perplexing emotions as they journeyed from pain to fear to happiness.

Shehata was best known among his family members and circles of friends since his early childhood for the hilarious impressions he perfectly nailed.

Later, he shared comic sketches with his friends online, which quickly went viral on various social media platforms. Simultaneously, Shehata attended various acting workshops, which honed his skills and prepared him for various auditions until he was chosen by Sudanese director Amjad Abu Alala for his award-winning film YOU WILL DIE AT TWENTY.

The film received widespread critical acclaim in international film festivals, winning the Best Debut Feature at the Venice Film Festival, Best Screenplay at the Carthage Film Festival (JCC), and was Sudan's official submission to the Academy Awards for Best International Feature Film in 2021.

Shehata was part of the Berlin International Film Festival's Talent in 2020 as well as a jury member at the Ajyal Film Festival in Qatar.

Shehata was also a jury member at the Al-Ain Film Festival in Abu Dhabi. The following year, attended the 43rd Cairo International Film Festival and was chosen by Screen Daily for the Arab Stars of Tomorrow 2021 edition.

Shehata will also appear in the OSN+ original MY DRIVER AND I, directed by Ahd Kamel and starring Saba Mubarak, Qusai Kheder, and Baraa Alem.
