Bill Marchant was born William Geoffrey Marchant in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on March 17, 1964 to Ruth and Murray Marchant. By the age of ten, Bill and his family had settled in Georgetown, Ontario, where his acting career began at the age of 14. At 18, he attended the drama program at the University of Guelph. In addition to his work as an actor, he has directed several film projects including his award-winning debut feature "Everyone" (2004). Mr. Marchant is also an accomplished musician, having produced and co-written the albums "Odlum" and "Seven Miles Out" with singer-songwriter Michael Chase. Tracks have been featured on Showtime's Queer as Folk (2000), Fox Television's Higher Ground (2000), and the feature film Suspicious River, directed by Lynne Stopkewich.

A writer, actor, director, producer and educator, Bill Marchant has been making art in Canada for over thirty years. An accomplished actor, he is best know for recurring roles on Stargate-SG1 and Davinci's Inquest.

Marchant's work as a playwright includes the award-winning play, "Ashes", produced by Eyeheart Productions. Other plays, "Gift of Screws" and "Clown Elections" have received rave reviews and sold-out runs. He is working on "sister" plays, two post apocalyptic stories that happen in the same place and time but occur completely independently of one another. His debut feature film as both writer and director, "Everyone", toured the international festival circuit, winning dozens of awards including the prestigious Zenith D'Or at the Montreal World Film Festival and the AMEX Award for Best Film at the Vancouver International Film Festival. "Everyone" is distributed worldwide by TLA releasing.

As Head of Department of the Acting Program at Vancouver Film School for over twelve years, Bill has contributed to the passion and artistry of more than a thousand young actors, imploring them to tell a better truth. An accomplished poet, he has also published a chapbook entitled "Auguries". Not content to be merely busy, Bill has recorded two albums of original music with Nashville based singer-songwriter, Michael Chase. Songs from the albums have received radio play and featured prominently in film and television including Lynne Stopkewich's "Suspicious River," Showtime's Queer as Folk (2000), and Fox Television's Higher Ground (2000).
