This December, Mike Afolarin will be seen as the lead of Netflix's first Nigerian Young Adult Drama Series featuring actors like Funke Akindele and Richard Mofe-Damijo. Far From Home follows the story of Ishaya Bello played by Mike Afolarin, - a charismatic teenager and talented artist from a poor family, whose dreams suddenly appear within reach, when a prestigious scholarship to the most exclusive A level school in the country catapults him into the luxurious world of Nigeria's 1% - all while a huge secret threatens his newfound status and ultimately, his family's safety. Produced by Inkblot productions, Far From Home was filmed in Lagos, Nigeria where Mike spends most of his time.

In 2019, Afolarin also featured as a major sub lead character - Kinto in an Africa Magic series called Brethren. The show had 260 episodes with Afolarin featuring in most of them. He also went on to feature in Ebonylife film's Your Excellency directed by Funke Akindele,
