Frequently uses her mother's name for improvisational scene characters. Her mother, Wendy Woods, is an Ann Arbor, Michigan, City Council member (2001-2007).

Is the first, and so far, only cast member on 'Whose Line is it, Anyway?' to play an Improv game in bare feet. In her 2nd episode, for the 'Sideways Scene' sketch, she removed her shoes and did the scene barefoot.

Daughter is Ziza Funk, son is Moze Funk.

Along with her brothers Raleigh and Renan Woods, Nyima Funk was a founding member of the Techno Detroit Techno Group "The Sound Odyssey". She was the lead singer: Annie Gravy.

Nyima Funk was a cast member of Second City Detroit and Second City Chicago. Nyima co-wrote and performed in the Joseph Jefferson Award winning revues "Curious George Goes To War", and "Pants on Fire", along with Keegan-Michael Key and Director Joshua Funk.

She was awarded the 2003 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actress in a Revue for "Curious George Goes to War" at the Second City Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.

Attended the University of Michigan for Musical Theater. Met her husband Joshua Funk there.
