- Iain Pattinson was born on January 12, 1953 in Sidcup, Kent, England, UK. He was a writer, known for It's Only TV... But I Like It (1999), The Smith & Jones Sketchbook (2006) and A Carlton New Year (1993). He died on February 14, 2021.
- He previously worked as an executive for Shell Oil. On 6 March 1988, when he was on holiday in Gibraltar, he was an eye-witness to the SAS shooting of three IRA suspects. This affected him so profoundly that he decided on a complete change of career, and became a writer for BBC radio programmes such as I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
- Humphrey Lyttelton, presenter of BBC Radio 4's "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" for which Iain Pattinson wrote jokes, described his writing as "blue-chip filth" - doubles-entendres which were capable of a perfectly innocent interpretation but which also had a second, very rude meaning that was only perceived by "the filthy-minded listener".
