Michael Tolkien was born on October 22, 1920 in Oxfordshire, England, UK. He died on February 27, 1984 in England, UK.

Second son of writer J.R.R. Tolkien. Brother of Priscilla Tolkien, Christopher Tolkien, and John Tolkien.

Much to his father's dismay, he and his brother, Christopher Tolkien, served in the Royal Air Force. Tolkien described aerial combat as "immoral".

Was a schoolmaster most of his life.
