- His first job was working for local newspapers in Kyoto.
- In 1962 he founded Tatsunoko with his two younger brothers, 'Kenji Yoshida' (who took over Tatsuo's position as producer after he died) and Toyoharu (aka Ippei Kuri).
- He taught himself to draw manga comics.
- He named his studio Tatsunoko, which has the double meaning of "Tatsu's child" and "sea dragon" (which was the inspiration for its seahorse logo).
- Founded Tatsunoko Productions with his brothers Kenji Yoshida, and Ippei Kuri. Created both the animated and manga (Japanese comic) versions of _Mach Go Go Go (1967)_, AKA _Speed Racer (1967)_.
