- Tatsuo Yoshida was born on March 6, 1933 in Kyoto, Japan. He was a writer and producer, known for Speed Racer (2008), Speed Racer (1967) and Battle of the Planets. He died on September 5, 1977 in Tokyo, Japan.

- His first job was working for local newspapers in Kyoto.
- In 1962 he founded Tatsunoko with his two younger brothers, 'Kenji Yoshida' (who took over Tatsuo's position as producer after he died) and Toyoharu (aka Ippei Kuri).

- He named his studio Tatsunoko, which has the double meaning of "Tatsu's child" and "sea dragon" (which was the inspiration for its seahorse logo).
