  • Meg (Marguerite) Kelly Rizzoli began her career as an actress, she was 12 when Arena Stage, a regional rep company in Washington, D. C., cast her in "Our Town", in Washington, D. C., and then took the show on tour to Moscow and Leningrad. She studied drama at Catholic University of America (Washington D.C.) and Circle-in-the-Square in New York. She then acted in a number of plays in regional theatre in Washington D.C. as well as off-Broadway. Her television debut was the role of "Shauna", a spacey catering assistant briefly hired by "Allie" in the Kate & Allie Episode - The Namath of the Game in 1988. Meg became a scriptwriter for "As the World Turns" 2002- 2005 for which she won 3 Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series Writing Team. In 2006-2007 she was co-head writer for "Days of Our Lives" Meg is married to actor Tony Rizzoli, and has two children

    She comes from a family of writers and reporters, her mother is Marguerite Alice Kelly, a columnist of "The Family Almanac" for The Washington Post and author of three books on parenting. Father Thomas Vincent Kelly was a political and features reporter for The Washington Daily News (The Washington Star), and was nominated three times for a Pulitzer Prize. Her brother was journalist Michael Thomas Kelly. Sister Katy Kelly was a reporter at People magazine, then a feature writer at USA Today-where she was nominated for the Pulitzer six times, before moving on to illustrating her mother's books, and writing her own series of prize-winning books for children. Sister Nell Kelly Conroy worked for a few years in film editing, and was an assistant editor on Martin Scorsese's Cape Fear.
