As a Theatre Director, his hit show, Martin McDonagh's "The Beauty Queen Of Leenane" was extended at the Celtic Arts Center due to sold-out houses, and received three Critic's Picks from The Los Angeles Times, ShowMag.com, and BackStage West. That Theatre season, "The Beauty Queen Of Leenane", was listed in "The Best Plays of the Year" in the LA Times and in BackStage West's "Top Ten Plays of the Year". His original Irish Musical, "McGinty's Wake", which he co-wrote, was selected by Stephen Schwartz ("Wicked", "Pippin", "Godspell") and developed at the ASCAP/Disney musical theatre workshop. The new musical was work-shopped, under Brian's direction, at Disney Film Studios in Burbank, CA.
In addition to his award-winning Irish musical, Brian co-wrote the musical comedy, "Royal Flush". Under Brian's direction, it had a sold-out world premiere and was critically acclaimed. Brian is also the author & performer of three historical one-man shows, "Ben Franklin & The Great American Experiment", "Teddy Roosevelt; From Rough Rider to President", and "Churchill's Christmas at The White House". These three historical shows have toured regionally.
For the George Floyd Memorial Foundation, he co-wrote the Social Justice Song, "Strange Fruit, Revisited". He also wrote and directed comedy sketches for the Public Nuisance Comedy Group for seven years. BroadwayWorld calls his comedic Hamilton skit "very clever".
Brian studied Musical Theatre writing at both the Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop under John Sparks and the ASCAP/Disney Workshop under Stephen Schwartz. He studied sitcom writing with the UCLA extension classes. He majored in Theatre Directing at Catholic University of America. He studied Acting at the Hartke Theatre Conservatory.
Brian served on the Board of Directors for the Sarah Fulton Group, was a Los Angeles Theatre Ovation Voter (3 years), a member of LA Stage Alliance (3 years), a member of The Celtic Arts Center Theatre (6 years) & a member of The Imagination Company (9 years).
He was born in Washington, D.C. and moved to Los Angeles in 1985. He now resides in the Philadelphia area where he's portrayed "Ben Franklin" in commercials for Doritos, Comcast Cable, AARP, Bud Light, American Signature Furniture, La Colombe Coffee, Virginia Tourism Board, NJ Lottery, Chiques Creek Hemp Tea, Wild Turkey Bourbon, Quicken Loans, & more! He's been married to Kathleen M. Darcy since 2003.
