Biography

Asa Gartland is a Yorkshire-born, London-based writer/director, producer and co-founder of Loose Goose Productions. His films explore the friction between rigid systems and the chaos of the internal world, often using the past to look at themes that feel both timeless and contemporary. Frequently set in the world of British subculture, his work draws heavily on musical performance and lives in the sweet spot between drama and comedy.

He trained at London Film School, and his films have screened and won awards at BAFTA and BIFA-qualifying festivals in the UK and internationally; Hold... Please! won Best Screenplay at Watersprite, the world's largest student film festival, and was shortlisted for the Young Director Award held at Cannes Lions.
