Mini bio

  • Ryder Harrison Houston is an American filmmaker, musician, and performer known for his edgy, phantasmagorical style, which strives to emulate alternative artists and creative trends of the late 20th century.

Ryder's earliest childhood memories were spent watching the behind-the-scenes of his favorite movies and tracing stills from Disney cartoons. Although he ultimately lost interest in the pursuit of animation, this curious, artistic aptitude would carry him through his early theatrical endeavors and eventually lead him to develop his lifelong passion for filmmaking. By middle school, he had become infamous for his absurdist sketch comedy channel on YouTube where he would further hone his discipline for video editing, often incorporating the use of intricate visual effects. However puerile, these videos would go on to reach viral levels of attention in the years to come, helping him fund his ripening talents for just a short period of time.

Upon graduating high school, he premiered his hour-long feature film debut, Rapture in Blue, a psychosexual coming-of-age thriller that was immediately discovered and released to DVD by provocative queer distributor Altered Innocence. Aside from writing, directing, and editing the film by himself, Houston also composed the original score featuring the movie's haunting theme "Wine (A Sea Of Future)." It would be this very song, performed by frequent collaborator Ariana Kelly, which would catalyze the future of Houston's burgeoning discography following his move to Philadelphia in the fall of 2020.

Once settled on the East Coast, Ryder would return to the stage to promote his solo music project, opening for cutting-edge electronic bands the likes of Nuovo Testamento, Void Vision, Korine, and Ronnie Stone. Serendipitously, he soon discovered he was able to incorporate his love for filmmaking into this new shift in focus as each new song would require its own music video to coincide with release. Over the next three years, he would go on to create a total of seven videos across five singles and two EPs before pumping the brakes.

These days, Ryder remains in West Philadelphia where he spends much of his time completing the long-awaited screenplay for his next feature film, which will inevitably include his personal touches on the soundtrack as well.
