Katelyn Downing is a filmmaker, photographer, writer, and actor based in Washington State. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Communications and brings a background in visual storytelling and communications to her work in film.
A professional photographer for more than a decade, Katelyn has developed a strong eye for composition, visual narrative, and cinematic imagery. Her work behind the camera has expanded into directing and writing, with a particular interest in stories that explore human connection, identity, consciousness, and the experiences that shape us.
Katelyn made her on-screen debut in Ricochet (2019), directed by Tim Earnheart. She later expanded her role in filmmaking with Pyrocene, serving as co-writer and director. The short film went on to screen at multiple film festivals.
Katelyn co-founded the independent production company The Downing Duo with her husband, filmmaker S. Joe Downing. Together, they develop and produce independent narrative and documentary projects, with Katelyn contributing across writing, directing, producing, cinematography, photography, and performance.
