Sakis Boulas(1954-2014)

Sakis Boulas was a prominent Greek entertainer whose versatile career spanned acting, singing, songwriting, and television hosting. Raised in Piraeus, he resisted his parents' early encouragement to pursue a career in law, opting instead to follow his passion for the performing arts. Before his breakthrough in entertainment, he spent time as a small business owner in the furniture industry. Boulas was a foundational figure in the Greek music-theater scene. He co-founded the innovative "Sousouro," one of the first musical cafes to blend live music with theatrical happenings, and later became a central performer at the legendary "Ach Maria" venue. His musical portfolio was extensive, featuring collaborations with composers such as Thanos Mikroutsikos and Dionysis Savvopoulos. As a songwriter, he contributed lyrics to numerous artists, including Lavrentis Mahairitsas and Giannis Zouganelis, while also releasing several solo albums, notably Boulas-Hellas (1986) and Zamanfou (1992). On television, he achieved immense national popularity through his comedic timing and distinct screen presence. He became a household name with starring roles in hit series such as Extremely Lucky (2003) and Peninta-peninta (2005), where he portrayed Pavlos Strateas. His film work and television hosting roles further cemented his status as a leading figure in contemporary Greek pop culture. Throughout his life, he was known for his independent spirit and his long-standing creative partnership with fellow artist Giannis Zouganelis.
