Biography

Nikolas Asimos was a Greek composer, songwriter, and sometimes a singer in his own right. At various points in his career, Asimos was a leftist and anarchist activist, though he was never affiliated with any specific political party or organized group. Many of his political and satirical songs were banned during his lifetime, and were only available for wide circulation after his death. Starting in 1981, he was a frequent patient at mental hospitals. In 1988, he committed suicide while awaiting trial for an alleged sex crime. His autobiography was posthumously published in 2000.
