Maya Koshaba is known for her fearless exploration of identity and resilience. On screen, as on stage, she focuses on living truthfully from moment to moment, and brings a sense of immediacy and emotional precision to every performance. She approaches acting as a form of activism; she is committed to empowering others through her work, seeks out opportunities to support underrepresented voices, and intentionally specializes in roles that enable her to offer meaning to the world. She has been nominated for multiple awards in both theater and film.

Maya is an active member of SAG-AFTRA and AEA, and is bilingual in English and Spanish. She has worked with award-nominated writers and directors including Terry Rossio, Natalia Warchol, and Ximan Li. Her most notable film roles include Rosanna in Protocol-7, Grace in the independent film Child Check and Gina Vasquez in Dark Red. Her role as Grace in Child Check earned her awards for Best Actress by LA Indie Shorts and Silver Best Actress by Independent Shorts Awards and is on the film festival circuit. Notable national and international theater roles include Rashida in the off-off-Broadway historical drama Oud Player On The Tel, for which she was nominated by BroadwayWorld for Best Performance, and the award-nominated one-act Dining for One. Throughout these roles, she has illuminated social issues including domestic violence, institutional inequality, sexual harassment, and the human cost of war.

Maya’s artistry is largely rooted in her upbringing: she was raised in West Texas, where her mixed Middle Eastern and Mexican heritage set her apart from her peers. She turned to the arts at a young age, as both a refuge and a means of self-expression. She is devoted not only to performance, but to fostering inclusivity and connection, and to honoring the human experience. Maya is also the founder of Mountain Productions, a company devoted to bridging cultures and sparking meaningful change through inspirational storytelling that challenges the status quo. Recent projects include the Italian film Il Velo (currently on the international festival circuit), a morally complex exploration of the tension between love and duty in the Catholic Church.
