Her favourite band is Steely Dan. Her character on Reno 911! (2003) had a tattoo on her back which once said "Steed" (a one-time boyfriend), later changed to "Steely Dan" after the relationship ended.

Her character, "Deputy Clementine Johnson" from Reno 911! (2003), was a character Wendi developed at the Groundling Theater, although she wasn't originally a cop. The character of Clementine's common-law husband, Steed (they had a wedding in season 1 but were never officially married because they never got a license), was also developed at the Groundlings.

Presented with the Comedic Actress award by the La Femme Film Festival in 2012.

For many years, even after landing the role of Deputy Clementine Johnson on Reno 911!, Covey kept a part-time job as an editor for a social work journal. She worked on manuscripts in her trailer & on location to ensure she didn't become a "desperate actor".

On April 2020 at the start of the global COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, Wendi and her close friend, Surf Photographer and Producer Dfernando Zaremba, started their podcast GENERATION RIPE. The podcast's audience were teenagers over 40 and featured guest interviews with artists from all realms of the entertainment industry. The podcast aired its final episode in July 2022 and can still be listened to on major podcast platforms.

Covey got her mainstream break at age 41 with her role in the hit movie Bridesmaids.
