  • Boris Apostolov Grezhov a Bulgarian film director, one of the pioneers of Bulgarian cinema. He was born on April 4, 1899 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. After completing his secondary education he went to study mechanical engineering in Munich , where he became a student and assistant director of H. Prehtal from the famous movie house "Nordisk". At the same time, in "Nordisk" worked and Carl Theodor Dreyer . After returning to Bulgaria he has shot his debut film, "Lily Rock" (1922). In this film Boris Grezhov is a director, screenwriter and main actor. Then he made a comedy "Merry Bulgaria", filmed in 1928. Established in 1929 movie "After the Fire over Russia" (based on the story of Pancho Mihailov "Underground") is considered as one of the most representative Bulgarian silent films. Despite the pretentious title, the plot focuses on romantic love between Pernik miner Alexei and the wife of the chief engineer in the mines. This film is cinema debut of Konstantin Kisimov who played the role of villain superintendent cam. Konstantin Kisimov played the role of villain in the next, best known film of Boris Grezhov - " Unmarked Graves " (1931), written by Boncho Nesterov . His partners were the great actors of the National Theatre Krastyo Sarafov and Elena Snezhina . The he made the movies "For the Homeland" (1940) and "Hugger-Mugger" (1941). In 1947 the director reunited with Konstantin Kisimov to shoot cosmopolitan melodrama "Atonement." Boris Grezhov has filmed a number of newsreels in the period 1941-1944, as well as the documentary "It Does Not Die" (1949). He died on March 20, 1968 in Sofia, Bulgaria.
