  • Odd Martinsen is a Norwegian skier, Olympic champion, world champion. At the 1968 Olympics in Grenoble, he won gold in the relay and silver in the 30 km race (49.7 seconds behind the sensational champion Franco Nones), and also finished 8th in the 15 km race and 18th in the 50 km race. At the 1976 Olympics in Innsbruck, he won silver in the relay, and achieved the following results in the remaining races: 15 km - 8th place, 30 km - 9th place. He competed in four World Championships and won one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals. He won gold in the relay race at the 1966 World Championships in Oslo. At the 1970 World Championships, he became the only Norwegian to win a medal in cross-country skiing.

  • In 1969, he won the 15 km race at the Holmenkollen Ski Festival. That same year, he was awarded the Holmenkollen Medal. Thirty-two years later, Martinsen's daughter, Bente Skari, was awarded the medal, making them the only father-daughter pair to receive it.
