- Matthew Ward is a filmmaker and cinematic director with more than 25 years of experience in direction, visualization, cinematography, virtual production, animation, and video game storytelling. His feature film credits include Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones, The Matrix Revolutions, The Polar Express, War of the Worlds, Beowulf, Welcome to Maren, and Borderlands. He is a named inventor on two Walt Disney Pictures virtual camera patents.
Ward helped shape the cinematic direction of Bungie’s Destiny franchise and later founded and led Gearbox Entertainment’s Cinema & Cinematics Group, leading visualization for the Borderlands feature film and directing more than 75 cinematic scenes for Borderlands 4, among other efforts.
As an independent filmmaker, he has directed award-nominated commercials, short films, and music videos for artists including CAKE, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Glen Phillips, Megan Slankard, and Jeff Campbell.
