Met Wink Martindale in 1982 when the game show host was voicing and West was selling the syndicated radio show "20:20 Musicworld" to local stations. A working relationship was formed, and a decade later West announced the Martindale-hosted game shows "Trivial Pursuit," "Boggle," "Jumble" and "Shuffle" Trivial Pursuit (1993).

Re-created his TV announcer role in the stage production "The Price is Right - Live" in Las Vegas, Atlantic City as well as other showrooms and theaters 2003 - 2018. He continues to substitute in the role periodically.

Was the first champion to be retired after exceeding the maximum winnings on CBS' "Press Your Luck" in 1993 (episodes #9, 10 and 11).

Before becoming a prolific game show announcer, he was a contestant on nine game shows, including "What's My Line?" "To Tell The Truth," "Hit Man", "Press Your Luck", "All Star Blitz", "Face The Music" and "Sweethearts.".

When Johnny Olson's widow, Penny Olson, sold the couple's West Virginia home, Randy was entrusted with the boxes of scripts, press clippings, personal writings, microphone, Emmy Award plaque and other ephemera that Johnny had saved over his 58 year career.

Authored the book "TV Inside-Out: Flukes, Flakes, Feuds and Felonies" in 2022. It is a collection of backstage stories of celebrity blunders, bloopers and blasphemy garnered from interviews with stars, members of their entourages, agents, producers, directors and studio crew members.

Considers his work as announcer and supporting player for many headlining and first-generation television personalities to have been masterclasses in broadcasting and professional demeanor. They included Dick Clark, Bob Barker, Wink Martindale, Bob Eubanks, Chuck Woolery, Ryan Seacrest, Howie Mandel, Jerry Springer, Ray Combs, Marc Summers and Ben Stein.

Authored the book "Johnny Olson: A Voice in Time" utilizing the vast collection of notes, memorabilia, contracts, photos and biographical information that was entrusted to Randy by the estate of Johnny Olson.

Was hired from the stage at "The Price is Right" at CBS to perform as announcer and warm-up for FremantleMedia's "The Price is Right-Live" stage production. After 19 years with that show, Randy was hired to perform similar duties for Sony's "Wheel of Fortune-Live" in 2002.

Presently serves on the Board of Directors of Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters and Hollywood Media Professionals. Is actively involved as a voting member of the Television Academy, was an organizer and speaker for several years' annual Game Show Congress events, and periodically serves on committees at SAG-AFTRA.

Had grown up in an Italian-Jewish neighborhood in New York City.
