Biography

  • Arnab Laha is an Indian cinematographer, production designer, screenwriter, and filmmaker based in Kolkata, West Bengal. An alumnus of Asian Film Academy, South Korea & Kyoto Filmmaker's Lab, Japan and a graduate of St. Xavier's College, Kolkata (Multimedia & Animation) and the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (Cinematography), he is known for his work across independent feature films and international collaborations. He served as cinematographer on The Horse from Heaven (2022), India's official entry to the 95th Academy Awards in the Best Live Action Short Film category. In 2025, he was selected as the sole cinematography fellow representing India among 24 Asian fellows at the Busan International Film Festival's Asian Film Academy (BAFA), sponsored by Chanel. His feature films include Academy of Fine Arts (2025), on which he served as cinematographer, production designer, art director, and co-screenwriter, and The Strange Life of Dhrubo (2025). His commercial work includes brand films for Puma, BMW, Audi, Khadim's, Shalimar, Tata Steel and Aditya Birla & Birla Opus. He runs Tetris Studios, Kolkata, and is in development on Manchester, his next feature as director.
