Biography

Virginia Wade was born on July 10, 1945 in Bournemouth, Dorset, England, UK. She is an actress, known for Trevor's World of Sport (2003), Miranda (2009) and Wimbledon (1937).

She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in 1986 for her services to tennis and sports broadcasting.

Won women's singles championship at Wimbledon in 1977 (and is the last British player to win at the tournament).

She has been tennis commentator for the BBC since 1981.

Partner of actress Marylou Mellace.

She was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours List for her services to Tennis and Charity in London, England.
