Biography

Kemi Badenoch was born on January 2, 1980 in Wimbledon, London, England, UK. She has been married to Hamish Badenoch since 2012. They have three children.

Member of the London Assembly as the 9th Additional Member (16 September 2015 - 5 May 2016), Member of the London Assembly as the 4th Additional Member (5 May 2016 - 8 June 2017), Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden (8 June 2017 - ), Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Children and Families (27 July 2019 - 13 February 2020), Exchequer Secretary to the Treasury (13 February 2020 - 16 September 2021), Minister of State for Equalities (14 February 2020 - 6 July 2022), Minister of State for Local Government, Faith and Communities (16 September 2021 - 6 July 2022).

I grew up in a middle-class family, but I became working class when I was 16 working in McDonald's.

[on Sir Keir Starmer's resignation] No doubt he will be disappointed that he won't be emulating his hero Harold Wilson in winning multiple elections. However, we all hope that he may be about to emulate him in another way, by being the prime minister when England win the World Cup. That is something that every single one of us in this house should get behind, especially the SNP.
