Shanay was born with an inquisitive nature about people and their stories, and growing up in the foster care system in the DC metropolitan area she was able to see many different lifestyles in a short span. After adoption, her mother only helped increase her appetite for all things TV/Film and pop culture! Always relishing in a good documentary exploring the taboos of life and poignant storytelling, she took her childhood hobbies and interest and made them her career.
An honors graduate of Savannah State University's Journalism and Mass Communications department, Shanay began her career working in local news. There she was able to be a part of showcasing the stories that matter to the community and became an award-winning Digital Producer, helping millions access vital information during Hurricane Matthew. In 2017 after moving to Atlanta, she joined screenwriter Nakia Stephens in her efforts to make their screenwriting label Damn Write Originals the destination for authentic storytelling that elevates women and people of color. She leads Damn Write Originals as their Head of Production.
And what's a passion without purpose? Shanay is devoted to ensuring that everyone feels their voice is heard and living her truths inspires others to chase their dreams.
Shanay resides in Los Angeles where she is an independent scripted Producer and an unscripted Production Manager.
