Biography

Kurt Henry Heinecke was born on January 10, 1963. He is an American composer, known for the music for VeggieTales and 2011's Superbook. Before he met VeggieTales co-creators, Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki, he used to do a high school band with Phil's wife Lisa Vischer. During production of episode 1, "Where's God When I'm S-Scared?", Lisa introduced Phil to Kurt and they helped compose the song "God Is Bigger". Afterwards, Kurt later borrowed a live tuba from the high school band he used to work at to perform Larry the Cucumber's tuba for the VeggieTales theme song. In 2002, while Kurt was doing music for Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, a music director for the 2002 LarryBoy cartoon adventures, Christopher Davis, filled in and did the music for "The Star of Christmas". In 2006, the episode, "Gideon: Tuba Warrior", was also special, since Kurt hired his daughter, Gretchen, and her high school marching band to perform a "Fanfare with Lights," a score that Larry used as the titular Bible character to help defeat the Midianites with his tuba. Kurt was so busy in doing that score, that he hired PBS music director, John Keltonic, to compose the score for a segment from the episode called "The Story of George Mueller". In 2011's Superbook, Kurt did some live Israeli wind instruments for the show's intro. As the music director of Superbook, Kurt was unable to do the music for the Netflix series: "VeggieTales in the House". He was, however, able to return for the 2019 VeggieTales Show, until he, Phil, Lisa, and Mike left Big Idea after season 1 was over.
