Biography

Kim Clements

Biography

  • Born in Montreal and raised in small town Ontario with a British/Scottish background, Kim Clements was addicted to every type of television show available on three channels, from "Masterpiece Theater" and "Monty Python" to "Charlie's Angels" and "Lost In Space".

Clements propelled as a writer in advertising and spent many years working for some of Toronto's top agencies, including BBDO, Saatchi and J. Walter Thompson. While visualizing a 10 years-from-now scenario, she realized that her true dream was writing in a format that extended beyond 30 seconds and decided to focus on her true passion: television and film.

She then wrote and produced the short film "Blind", which made the rounds on the festival circuit and appeared on the CBC network. She also wrote several spec scripts. Through a Canadian friend, one of her one-hour drama specs landed on the desk of Glen Mazzara, one of the producers of the F/X Series "The Shield". He was impressed by her work and passed it on to the show's creator, Shawn Ryan. This led to her becoming a staff writer on "The Shield" for the entire second season and story editor on the third season.

After two successful years on the Emmy Award winning Drama, Kim spread her wings and joined the writing staff of a brand new pilot from Exec Producers JJ Abrams and Damon Lindeloff, which eventually became the worldwide phenomenon "Lost" for ABC/Touchstone. Finding her way back to the Cop Drama genre again, Kim wrote multiple episodes and was a Co-Producer on the short-lived but critically acclaimed TNT/Spelling series "Wanted" for creator Jorge Zamacona.

In February of 2006, Kim had the opportunity to join the writing staff of the NBC/Universal series "The Black Donnelly's", from "Crash" and "Million Dollar Baby" writer/Exec Producer Paul Haggis and his partner Bobby Moresco. Kim wrote multiple episodes of this gritty crime drama which is about keeping the family together and safe at all costs. The show currently airs on Monday nights at 10 pm on NBC.

Kim envisions a future in which she continues to hone her writing craft and gets the opportunity to create her own shows and feature films. She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she tries to avoid the snow as much as possible.
