- Ammar Zafar is a seasoned filmmaker and visual storyteller with a sharp focus on narrative and screenwriting. He is internationally recognized for his acclaimed short films Murder Tongue, Dry Leaves, and A Better Place.
With over 15 years of experience, Ammar has worked across film, television, digital media, and commercials in diverse markets including Pakistan, Dubai, the UK, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Korea.
His debut short film, Dry Leaves, was officially selected at over 35 international festivals and received particular acclaim at South Asian-themed film festivals around the world. His globally acclaimed short Murder Tongue has won 26 international awards-including Best International Short Film at the 39th Miami Film Festival-and has been screened at more than 60 festivals worldwide, including five Oscar-qualifying events.
His most recent project is a unique and first-of-its-kind short film shot entirely in Seoul, South Korea, featuring a diverse cast and crew from Pakistan, South Korea, and Bangladesh. It marks the first independent Pakistani-funded collaboration with Korean filmmakers-further solidifying his international cinematic presence and underscoring his commitment to cross-cultural storytelling and global cinema.
