He was a production designer, known for Breakfast with the Arts (1991), Pacific Overtures (1976) and The Ed Sullivan Show (1948). He was married to Lisa Jalowetz. He died on November 16, 1980.

He was Tony-nominated seven other times: in 1956 for "The Diary of Anne Frank," "Bus Stop," "Once Upon a Tailor: and "A View from the Bridge;" in 1957 for "A Hole in the Head" and "Small War on Murray Hill;" in 1958 for "Orpheus Descending," "A Hole in the Head" and "The Rope Dancers;" in 1959 for "J.B.;" in 1965 for "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Incident at Vichy;" in 1968 for "The Price;" and in 1973 for "A Little Night Music."
- Only one of the stage musicals that he worked on with producer-director Harold Prince - "Pacific Overtures" - has been televised complete with the original Aronson set designs, and Aronson did not work on the film versions of these musicals.
