- William was born in Sheffield, UK. He's a self-taught filmmaker, attending film school for only a few weeks before dropping out and starting his own career. His career so far has been based around telling stories from his home town. Whether they're about gangsters trying to make it big in the world, or an Average Joe defending the secret to all human life in his briefcase, they're all shot and based in a small town.
He has a unique approach to acting, preferring to shoot scenes simplistically, letting the actors carry and shape the story through stage direction and performance, adlibbing their lines as they go. It makes his films feel more collaborative than those of other directors, there's no right or wrong way to go with a scene. This makes him a local favourite amongst actors and he always has returning actors lining up at the door every time he announces a new project.
