Biography

Dan Alexander Newton is a filmmaker based in Dubai whose work gravitates toward psychological tension, surreal imagery, and unsettling soundscapes. Inspired by the raw spirit of 1970s and 80s horror cinema particularly the films of Lucio Fulci, John Carpenter, and David Lynch he is drawn to stories that live in the space between the ordinary and the unsettling.

His debut short film, Hi..., is a psychological horror built around minimalism, performance subtlety, and sound-driven storytelling. The film explores themes of innocence, guilt, and narcissism through carefully controlled visual rhythm and sound design.

Beyond horror, Newton continues to develop projects that weave together dark comedy, psychological drama, and experimental form. Whether working in intimate, single-location settings or imagining surreal narrative worlds, his aim is simple: to craft films that stay with audiences long after the credits fade.
