Biography

Jim Bellows was born on November 12, 1922 in Detroit, Michigan, USA. He was a producer, known for Entertainment Tonight (1981), The Living Century (2001) and The Last Editor (2002). He was married to Karen. He died on March 6, 2009 in Santa Monica, California, USA.

He took the helm of newspapers struggling against big-budget rivals, and made them more competitive with gritty reporting and gossip columns.

From 1961 to 1981, he was an editor with the New York Herald Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, and the Washington Star.

He helped the careers of writers Jimmy Breslin, Judith Crist, and Maureen Dowd.
