  • Ido Weisman is a Tel Aviv-based director and cinematographer. Born in 1989 and raised in the northern Israeli village of Nofit, he holds a BFA from the Steve Tisch School of Film and Television at Tel Aviv University.

    He has directed several award-winning short films, including "Horah" (2018), "Pool" (2019), and "Uzzi" (2018), which was shortlisted for the BAFTA Student Awards.

    His short documentary "Requiem for a Whale" (2022) won the prestigious IDA Award for Best Student Documentary and was nominated for Best Documentary Short at the 2023 Israeli Academy Awards. The film also received the top prize at the Israeli Documentary Forum Awards and won both Second Prize and the Cinematography Award at the 2022 Docaviv Film Festival. In August 2023, it was acquired for distribution by The New Yorker.

    In May 2025, Weisman directed the television series "You Have to Read This", which premiered on Kan 11.

    His debut feature-length documentary, "Sun Bay" (2025), won the First Feature Award at both the Israeli Documentary Forum Awards and the 2025 Docaviv Film Festival, and received an Honorable Mention at the South Film Festival. The film premiered on Kan 11 at the beginning of 2026, and it’s available to watch on Kan Box and on the Kan 11 YouTube channel.
