Taylor Martin is an award winning, multi-faceted Director/Writer out of Buffalo, New York, specializing in the horror/thriller/sci-fi genres. Gifted with a flair for the dramatic, impeccable style, and the sensitive nature of the cancer zodiac, Martin knew as a child that making films was her destiny.
Spending her 20's relentlessly acting and writing, 2022 saw the formation of the competition film team "Shady Acres" alongside cousin and writing partner, Matthew Martin. The duo have written 9 award winning genre films in that span. The team evolved into what is known today as "Shadyside Films" and is still going strong, 10 short films and 2 feature films later, with Martin in the Director's chair for all.
A close working relationship with Director of Photography Tim Davis of Noxluna Films, LLC, yielded a dynamic Director/DP duo that has to date been unstoppable. The ambitious pair are known for their ability to stretch a dollar and their cinematically intuitive approach to storytelling.
As a Director, Martin is no-nonsense when it comes to managing, networking, organizing, and execution due to a keen eye for character development and understanding performance nuances. Martin believes collaboration is king, often fusing ideas and genres as a vehicle to tell human stories.
While she is a team player first, Martin was the gracious recipient of the coveted "Filmmaker of the Year" award at the Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival in 2023. Her multi-lingual WWII short thriller "Die Dame" earned her the first of many directing opportunities outside of Buffalo, debuting with holiday horror feature film "Silent Bite" out of Canada, and the trendy slasher "The Showffeur". Psychological horror short film "Eccentrip", also starring Martin, won its respective original film competition, sending the team to screen in Lisbon, Portugal in 2024. 2025 saw Martin lead a triumphant festival run for "The Showffeur", winning "Best Horror Director" at the Chicago Horror Film Festival, the Amazing Fantasy Film Festival in Buffalo, and the Dark Matter Film Festival in Los Angeles. Martin has recently gained the notoriety of the horror influencer community with her collection of well decorated and immersive short films.
