Emilio began in the film industry as an assistant director.
In 2016, he premiered his short film "La Vuelta" at the Sitges International Film Festival, won the Best Short Film at the Rome Film Awards, received an honorable mention in India, and toured for more than 20 international competitions. In 2021, his next short film "Azul" won the Jury Prize at the Trame Indpendenti Film Festival and Best Short Film at the Live Screenings Festival in Georgia, among more than 20 international selections.
His project "Fuentenegra" was selected by Creative Europe Media for its L.S.D. (Logline, Synopsis, Demo) seminar taught by Fernanda Rossi, received mentoring from "Suport a la venda" organized by G.A.C., and was a semifinalist project at the Molins Horror Festival 2024. As a writer, he has written articles for several cinema magazines and taught at the Vigo Univeristy for six years and at the S.A.E Institute in Barcelona.
In 2025, he premiered his first feature film, SinÉl (whose script was selected by G.A.C. in its "Suport a la venda" call), which opened the Lleida International Film Festival, Som Cinema, and toured several festivals before its theatrical release. Meanwhile, he launched the podcast "¡Rodad Insensatos!" featuring conversations between a novice director and others who once were, which was a finalist for the Apespod Awards for Best Podcast of the Year in 2023 and 2024.
