Fifty Dead Men Walking (2008)
Tom Sullivan was born in Dublin and studied Earth Science at University College Galway. After graduating he took the logical next step and began acting, he has worked in film and television since. In 2010 Tom began writing and directing. Tom's first film Asal (2011), premiered at the Galway Film Festival and won the Tiernan McBride award for Best Short Drama, as did his second short Mechanic two years later. In the interim he directed Eoinín, a film for television. In 2014 he co-wrote and directed Sínte, a 30min film that won Best Short Drama at the Celtic Media Awards. Personal Development, Tom's next short film had it's North American premier at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York in 2015 and subsequently was invited to screen on all International Airline flights as part of the Tribeca Presents program. It has received multiple nominations and awards internationally. Tom then directed Fir Bolg, a six part comedy drama that won an IFTA, (Irish Film and Television award), for best Irish production in 2017. He has also awarded a Zebbie by the Irish Writers Guild for the script, 'Mechanic.' Arracht, Tom's first feature premiered in Tallinn at the Black Nights Film Festival and had it's Irish premier in early 2020 at The Dublin International Film Festival. Arracht won the The Critics Choice Award for Best Irish Film. It also won, The Audience award at The Glasgow International Film Festival and has recently been nominated for 11 IFTA's including Best Director and Script for Tom. Arracht was in the middle of it's festival run and imminent release when the pandemic hit. Arracht will represent Ireland in the 2021 Oscars for Best International Film. Beidh Lá Eile againn.
