Biography

Jane Fennell became known to a generation of Australian children on the children's television program Mr. Squiggle and Friends (1959) as Miss Jane. She grew up in Sydney, Australia and is the daughter of Australian actor Willie Fennell. She was the long time companion of veteran Australian actor John Ewart. He was by her side and became her confidant after a serious car accident ended her career. She suffered serious facial injuries and it was at this time that she became particularly close to John whom she had known as her father's close friend since she was 15. They became engaged in 1992 but postponed the wedding following the death of her father. They married in a bedside ceremony two years later as John lay dying from throat cancer. Nine hours after the wedding, Jane was a widow.
