Olga Tournaki(1933-2022)

Olga Tournaki was a Greek stage, film, and television actress whose career was closely associated with the National Theatre of Greece for nearly five decades. A graduate of the National Theatre Drama School, she also studied at the Athens Conservatoire under Menelaos Pallantios before dedicating herself fully to acting. Beginning with appearances in the chorus of classical productions, she steadily progressed to leading roles in ancient drama, eventually portraying major heroines such as Electra, Hecuba, and Andromache. Alongside her extensive work in Greek tragedy, she built a distinguished presence in modern Greek and international theatre, participating in dozens of productions that made her one of the National Theatre's most enduring performers. She also appeared in a select number of films, including Far from Home (1972), Sto dromo tou Theou (1982), and 1922 (1978), while maintaining an active television career through numerous drama series and televised theatrical productions. Beyond acting, she contributed to recordings of contemporary Greek musical works and collaborated with the Greek National Opera as a narrator in the ballet "Genesis". Remembered for her commitment to classical theatre and her long service to the Greek stage, Tournaki remained a respected figure in Greek performing arts throughout her career.
