Andrew Misle

Andrew Misle is a Canadian actor, director and cinematographer. Born in Canada and raised partly in Chile, he began working professionally in Canadian film and television as a young man, appearing in the 1999 feature Question of Privilege and in Shaftesbury Films' Global Television series The Jane Show, which premiered in 2004. He stepped away from the industry in 2007 to study meditation and yoga, initially in India. What began as personal practice became a teaching career spanning more than fifteen years and over ten countries, and he continues to teach and lead retreats in Western Canada. Misle returned to film around 2020, working behind the camera as a cinematographer, director and editor. He founded Brokeseed Industry Films, an Alberta-based production company, and has since directed and shot documentary work across Alberta, British Columbia, the Yukon, Alaska and the Arctic, along with music videos for artists including Tanjerynne and The Steadies. He resumed acting the same year, appearing alongside longtime collaborator Jesse Lipscombe in the second season of Netflix's Black Summer (2021), shot in Alberta. Misle and Lipscombe have worked together for two decades and are currently writing, directing and shooting a series of five narrative short films, the first of which is touring the festival circuit. Misle is a father of two, a motorcyclist and a practitioner of Brazilian jiu-jitsu. He lives between Edmonton, Alberta and Naramata, British Columbia.
