- Has an identical twin brother, Matthew R. Staley who got him the job of Script Supervisor on his first feature film because he was performing stunts in it.
- Is an accomplished Baritone and Pianist.
- Financed his short film "The Phony" in part through winning a progressive Bingo tournament in Grand Junction, CO.
- Worked at MCT, Inc. in Rockville, MD where he learned about camera systems, linear editing, and studio/field lighting (maintenance as well as operating). He also took a workshop offered through A.F.I. where he was introduced to 35mm Camera Operation as well as the Steadicam - which ignited a fire under his feet.
