Nine Inch Nails is an American industrial rock band founded in 1988 by Trent Reznor in Cleveland, Ohio. The band released two influential albums during the 1990s-The Downward Spiral (1994) and The Fragile (1999)-and has record sales exceeding 20 million copies worldwide, with 10 million sales certified in the United States alone. They have released a total of nine studio albums and has received two Grammy Awards in 1992 and 1995.

Trent Reznor has received one Country Music Award for Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" despite Reznor himself not having any part in the creation of the song; Lil Nas X had sampled Nine Inch Nails' "34 Ghosts IV" from their Ghosts I-IV album, where producers are able to sample the tracks as long as Reznor is credited (Creative Commons).

Although founder and member of Nine Inch Nails (NIN) Trent Reznor has worked with many other musicians on stage, Reznor has been the only member and singer-songwriter for the entirety of NIN until 2016 when Atticus Ross had joined the group.
