The daughter of a Moravian engineer, she graduated from high school before undergoing artistic training at the Hertha Genzmer theatre school in Wiesbaden. In 1953, her teacher helped her get a placement at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden under the artistic direction of Detlof Krüger. She made her first film appearance the following year. Since the late 60s, she was often seen in TV guest roles in popular shows like Die Schwarzwaldklinik und Das Traumschiff.
